Step 1:

The first step is to take a date from which you want to auto-generate dates.in this example, I have taken 23-04-2019.

Step 2:

Now point the cursor under the bottom right of the cell, you will see a black plus sign or crosshair. once you see that start clicking and dragging that cell till your expected date has come.

Step 3:

As you can see it generated dates till I dragged. And also take a note that there is a small dropdown option in green color, in that select "Fill days" option in order to autofill only dates.

Auto Filling - With only Weekdays

Note: Step 1 and 2 are common in all cases except number series. This method produces only weekdays date and omits weekends. This method is very helpful when you don't need dates of weekends to be included, for example, your office is working only Monday to Friday.

As you can see from the above picture, since I selected "Fill weekdays" option it shows me only weekdays by omitting weekends (27th and 28th omitted).

Auto Filling - Month inside date

Like we saw in the above cases dates were only incremented but in this method, the date remains constant and the month gets incremented to auto fill.

Auto Filling - Number series

Hope you got an idea on auto filling with date, months, year, and days. Now let us see using numbers.

Step 1:

Unlike we did with dates and months, number series has a different approach of auto-filling. Here we should at least select two cells as a reference in order autofill to work. For example, we have only one cell reference in date or month. Say "JAN" clicking and dragging gives us the complete list.Below picture depicts how to reference cells for number series.
